The fastest way to start is with a book you've already published. Paste a link to it — the setup wizard asks for one, and so does the Books page under Add from Amazon — and AuthorSend reads its public listing: the cover, the blurb, the series and its order, the publisher and date, every edition, and your author bio and photo. If the listing names more books by you, we find those too.
What you can paste
- A link to the book on any Amazon marketplace (amazon.com, .co.uk, .de, .ca …), including short links (
amzn.to,a.co) and links to your Amazon author page. - A Goodreads link to the book or to your author page.
- A bare ISBN (10 or 13 digits) or Kindle ASIN.
- A universal link from Books2Read, Booklinker or similar.
- Or just the title — we'll show you candidates to pick from.
What happens next
- The card. Within a few seconds you see the book: cover, title, author, a line of the blurb. If it isn't yours, say so and paste another.
- Your books. We list every book found under your name. Tick the ones that are yours. Translations and box sets start unticked, because most authors keep their catalog to the originals.
- Your bio and photo. The bio and photo from your author page are offered; keep them, or untick them if you'd rather write your own. You can rewrite the bio in the first person with one click later.
- Praise. Editorial quotes from the listing are offered one by one. Only the ones you tick will ever appear on your site.
- What Quill builds. Choose what to set up from the books (all of it is on by default):
- Website — a design suggested by your genre, a page for every book and series, a Books page, a Start Here page for series readers, About and Contact. It's a draft until you publish.
- Link-in-bio page — one page for every profile that allows a single link.
- A book link for each book — on your own domain, so every click tells you which reader it was.
- Free chapters — a reader magnet with your cover and blurb. It waits for your file (EPUB or PDF); publish it when the file is in.
- Signup form — delivers the free chapters the moment someone signs up.
- Welcome sequence — three emails, a day apart, drafted in your voice from your bio and your book. Nothing is sent until you review and activate it.
- Launch plan — only when a release is within six months: the release day goes on your calendar, and Quill can propose the runway from there.
When it's done you land on Your author kit, which lists everything that was built with the one thing each is waiting on.
Nothing goes live on its own
Everything the import builds is a draft. The website waits for Publish (and the review that comes before it). The welcome emails wait for Activate. The free chapters wait for your file. Your readers never see anything you haven't looked at.
What we never take from a listing
- Ratings and prices. They change daily; a stale number on your site is a false claim.
- Customer reviews. They belong to the people who wrote them.
- Sample pages. There's no honest way to pull "Look Inside" text, and you own the manuscript — upload the chapters yourself.
If Amazon won't answer our servers
Amazon sometimes refuses automated requests. When that happens, your books still come in from the other sources we read, and the import offers two ways to add the Amazon extras (the hi-res cover, every edition, editorial quotes, your author photo):
- The bookmark. Drag "Send to AuthorSend" to your bookmarks bar, open the book's page on Amazon, click the bookmark. It sends us the page you're looking at and nothing else. It expires after two hours.
- Upload the saved page. Save the Amazon page (Ctrl/Cmd+S, "Webpage, complete") and upload the file in the same panel.
Keeping your books fresh
Each imported book remembers where its details came from. Refresh from source on a book re-reads its listing and updates only the fields you haven't edited yourself — your own blurb or title edits are never overwritten.
Not on Amazon?
Use Find my books by name to search the public book databases, or add a book by its ISBN. Books that aren't listed anywhere yet (a first book that isn't out) can be added by hand and will fill in later.
