Terms of Service

You must be at least 18 years old to use AuthorSend. When you create an account you agree to give us accurate information and to keep it up to date.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for everything done under your account, including by teammates you invite. Give each person their own login rather than sharing a password. Tell us promptly at support@authorsend.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

AuthorSend is a paid subscription service. There is no free plan. Current plans and prices are listed on our pricing page.

• Free trial. A new account starts with a 14-day free trial of the plan you choose. The trial is limited to one per person. You do not need a payment method to start; publishing pages and sending to readers require one, and it is not charged during the trial. If the trial ends without a payment method, your content stays in your account, and publishing and sending stay unavailable until you subscribe.
• When the trial ends. If you have added a payment method, your subscription begins when the trial ends and the payment method is charged the price of your plan for the billing period you chose, unless you cancel before then. We email you before the trial ends.
• Renewal. Subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, and renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
• What a plan measures. Plans are sized by your number of active readers. Unsubscribed, bounced, and deleted readers do not count. We do not charge per email sent, and we do not charge overage fees. If you reach your plan’s reader limit, the readers you have stay on your list and keep receiving your email, and readers who sign up through your forms and pages are still added; you will need to upgrade before importing or manually adding more.
• Changing plans. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time from your billing settings. Changes take effect immediately and are prorated: an upgrade is charged for the remainder of the current period, and a downgrade credits the unused portion toward your next invoice. Features that are part of a higher plan stop being available when you move to a plan that does not include them.
• Failed payments. If a payment fails we will try again. If it cannot be collected, your subscription ends, and sending email and publishing pages are paused until you subscribe again. Your account and your data remain.
• Price changes. If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you by email before the change applies to your next renewal.
• Taxes. Prices do not include taxes. Where we are required to collect them, they are added to your invoice.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number.

You can cancel at any time from your billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and you keep full access until then. You can export your readers at any time, including after you cancel while your account remains open.

30-day money-back guarantee. If AuthorSend is not right for you, email support@authorsend.com within 30 days of the first payment on a new subscription — monthly or yearly — and we will refund that payment in full. The guarantee applies once per customer.

Outside the guarantee, payments are not refundable and we do not refund partial billing periods, except where the law requires it.

AuthorSend sends email from infrastructure that every customer shares, so the rules that protect its reputation apply to everyone. You agree that you will:

• Email only people who have given you permission to email them. Do not import or send to purchased, rented, scraped, or harvested lists.
• Comply with the laws that apply to your email and your audience, including CAN-SPAM, the GDPR and UK GDPR, CASL, and equivalent laws.
• Include a valid postal mailing address and a working unsubscribe link in your marketing email. AuthorSend adds both and you may not remove, hide, or disable them.
• Honor unsubscribe requests. Readers who unsubscribe, hard-bounce, or complain are suppressed automatically, and you may not re-add them without their fresh consent.
• Describe yourself and your offer honestly. No deceptive subject lines, sender names, or content.

You may not use AuthorSend to send, host, or publish:

• Anything unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, or harassing, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
• Malware, phishing, or content designed to deceive people into giving up credentials or money.
• Content that incites violence or hatred against people.
• Material you do not have the right to distribute, including books and files delivered through AuthorSend.
• Sexually explicit images or video, in an email or on any page.
• Sexual content involving anyone under 18, in words or in pictures, whether real or fictional.
• Sexual or intimate content showing a real person without their consent, including images made or altered with AI.

Books for adult readers. You may write for adults and say so. Fiction with mature themes is welcome within the rules above. If your pages carry material that is unsuitable for minors, you are responsible for following the laws that apply to it, including any age-verification rules where your readers live.

These rules apply to everything you send or publish through AuthorSend, however it was written, including drafts made with our AI assistant.

You also may not attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the service, resell it without our agreement, or use it to build a competing mailing list from other customers’ readers.

Sending limits and enforcement. New accounts warm up gradually, so daily sending volume may be limited at first. We monitor bounce and complaint rates. If your sending puts the shared reputation at risk, or we reasonably believe you have broken these rules, we may remove content or take it offline, and limit, pause, or suspend sending or your account — where we can, after telling you and giving you a chance to fix the problem. Some things cannot wait for that: we act immediately on content that endangers a child, deceives readers, or that the law requires us to remove, and we report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as the law requires.

We respond to notices of copyright infringement and end the accounts of people who infringe repeatedly. How to send a notice, and how to respond to one, is in our Copyright Policy.

Anyone can tell us about an email, page, or file that breaks these rules, whether or not they are a customer, using the report form. That includes a request to remove an intimate image of you that was shared without your consent, which we act on within 48 hours of a valid request.

You own what you create and upload: your emails, pages, websites, books and files, and your reader list. You give us permission to host, process, transmit, and display that content only as needed to provide the service to you.

Your readers are yours. We process their information on your behalf and under your instructions. We do not email your readers for our own purposes, sell or rent your list, or use it to build an audience of our own. How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for your content and for having the rights and permissions you need — including permission to email each reader and the right to distribute each file you deliver.

AuthorSend includes an AI assistant that drafts and rewrites text at your request. To do that, the text and context you give it are sent to our AI providers. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of AI generations.

AI output can be wrong, generic, or similar to what others receive. You are responsible for reviewing anything the assistant produces before you send or publish it. As between you and us, what the assistant drafts for you is yours to use. The assistant does not write sexually explicit content.

The swap network is optional. If you join, you choose which of your readers receive swap promotions and whether each match needs your approval before it is sent. When a match is approved — by you, or automatically if you have turned on auto-approve — AuthorSend sends a promotional email for another author’s offer to the readers you selected. You are responsible for that choice as you are for any other email sent from your account.

If you sell your books through AuthorSend, you sell them through your own Stripe account, under Stripe’s terms. You are the seller: the buyer pays you, and you are responsible for the books you sell, their prices, refunds and disputes, and any sales tax or VAT that applies. AuthorSend takes no share of the sale. We deliver the files you upload to the buyer and add them to your readers as a buyer. We may stop selling for an account that breaks these terms, and Stripe may decline businesses its own rules do not allow.

You can connect AuthorSend to services run by others, such as social platforms, online stores, and other tools. Your use of those services is governed by their terms, and we are not responsible for them. A connection may stop working if the other service changes or withdraws it.

The AuthorSend service, including its software, design, templates, and branding, is owned by AuthorSend and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service while your subscription is active. Templates, designs, and stock imagery we provide may be used in the emails, pages, and websites you build with AuthorSend.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.

We work to keep AuthorSend available and reliable, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change, or remove features. If we remove something you rely on that was part of your paid plan, we will give you reasonable notice.

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that has gone unpaid. If we close your account for a reason other than a breach of these terms, we will refund any prepaid fees for the period after closure. Where we reasonably can, we will give you the opportunity to export your readers first.

AuthorSend is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise any particular inbox placement, open rate, list growth, or sales result.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AuthorSend shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these terms or the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.

If someone brings a claim against us because of content you sent or published through AuthorSend, or because you broke these terms or the law, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and losses we incur as a result.

We may update these terms. When we make a change that materially affects you, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows when the terms were last revised. Continuing to use AuthorSend after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
