AuthorSend writes, schedules and publishes your social posts, so a launch email and the posts around it come from one draft. Nothing goes out until you press a button, and every post reports what happened at each destination.
Connect where you post
Go to Settings → Social and press Connect destination. The list shows only platforms we can genuinely publish to: Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook Pages and Threads.
- Bluesky connects with an app password (make one in the Bluesky app under Settings → Privacy and security → App passwords). Never paste your main password.
- Mastodon asks for your instance (for example
mastodon.social), then sends you to it to approve. - Telegram posts to a channel you run, from a bot you make with @BotFather. Posts appear from the bot, not as you.
- Instagram, Facebook Pages and Threads go through Post for Me, a publishing partner that holds the platform registrations. Their name is on the approval screen; that is expected. Instagram needs a Professional account (Business or Creator) and every Instagram post needs an image. Facebook posts go to a Page you manage, never a personal profile.
If a destination stops working (an expired login, a revoked approval), it shows Needs reconnecting and you'll get one email. Press Reconnect on its card. Anything already queued for it stays queued.
Set your posting rhythm once
Under Posting schedule, add the times you want to post: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at nine, say. The times are shown in your own time zone. From then on, Add to queue drops a finished post into the next free slot, so you never pick a date and time unless you want to.
A destination can have times of its own (Instagram at lunchtime, Bluesky in the evening). Pick it under These times apply to.
Pause posting stops everything scheduled until you switch it back on, without unscheduling anything.
Write a post
Open Social and press Write a post. One text box, every destination you tick, and a preview for each one that counts your characters against that platform's own limit while you type. If a post is too long for Bluesky, press Adapt for Bluesky and Quill rewrites it to fit; the other destinations keep the full version.
- Start from a moment fills the box with an outline for a cover reveal, a preorder push, launch day, a review ask, and the rest.
- Ask Quill to write drafts a post from a one-line brief, in your brand voice.
- Add image opens your media library. With a book that has a cover, ready-made mockup scenes of it appear under the box.
- Hashtags keeps the groups you reuse (your genre, your series, the platform tags) one click away.
- Book link drops in a tracked link, so the post reports who clicked through to the store.
- Add link inserts a signup form, landing page or website page.
Then Add to queue, Schedule for… a specific time, or Post now.
Turn an email into posts
On any campaign, press Draft social posts. Quill writes a version for each connected destination from the email you already wrote, in that platform's own register. Before the send it offers a tease (something is coming, subscribe to get it); after the send, a promote post (it went out). A suggested time is prefilled: a day before the send for a tease, two hours after it for a promote post. You still press Schedule.
Know what happened
Social → Queue shows what is coming, Published what went out, and Needs attention anything that failed, with the platform's own reason and a Try this one again button. A post that reached four of five destinations shows as Partly published rather than being rounded to success or failure.
Every post also appears on the Calendar beside your emails, with one dot per destination, and can be dragged to another day.
Good to know
- Posts appear as you on Bluesky, Mastodon, Instagram, Facebook Pages and Threads. On Telegram they appear from your bot.
- Alt text on images is sent to every platform that accepts it. Mastodon content warnings are supported.
- Editing a post that is already scheduled keeps it scheduled. Take it out of the queue first if you want to hold it.
- Published posts can't be edited here (the platform already has them). Make a copy to post again.
