Four journeys worth building first — a welcome series, reader-magnet delivery, re-engagement, and a launch runway.

Once you know how to build a journey, here are four that earn their keep. Start with the welcome series — it does the most with the least.

1. Welcome series

Trigger: reader joins your main list. Send a warm hello immediately, wait two days, then send a "best of" — your most-loved post or a note about your books. New readers are never more interested than in their first week; a welcome series meets them there.

2. Reader-magnet delivery

Trigger: reader submits the form offering your free download. Deliver the magnet right away, then a few days later follow up to see what they thought and point them at your next book. This turns a one-time download into a relationship.

3. Re-engagement

Trigger: a segment of readers who haven't opened in 90 days. Send a "still want to hear from me?" email. Branch on the result: readers who open get a tag and stay; readers who don't can be moved off your active list.

4. Launch runway

Trigger: reader joins your "launch team" list. Build anticipation across a handful of emails — cover reveal, excerpt, preorder, launch day — with waits between them. Branch so readers who preorder stop getting the "please preorder" nudges.
